Canine PTSD and Anxiety

PTSD and Anxiety are the two most common conditions we are asked to help within working dogs that have returned—These dogs have experienced traumatic events and carry an emotional load.


Symptoms of canine PTSD vary from dog to dog and can include: hyper-vigilance, sensitivity to loud noises, avoidance of buildings or work areas where they were previously comfortable, changes in temperament such as irritability or timidity, and most noticeably, they stop performing the tasks they were trained to perform.


Dogs get flashbacks, often from environmental triggers that remind them of a traumatic event. Dogs with PTSD are affected differently by these flashbacks.

To receive the everyday 15% military discount, you must:

  • Be currently serving in or be a veteran (as defined below) of the US armed forces; and
  • Enroll in the program online or at a customer service desk at any Brady’s Botanicals store.


“Veteran” includes all individuals who are retired from the US armed forces or who have been discharged (e.g., honorable, under honorable conditions, general). Individuals dishonorably discharged or discharged for bad conduct are not eligible to receive a Military Discount.


To receive the Military Discount for in-store purchases, a valid photo ID is required at checkout to ensure the discount is being used by you or your spouse. For a spouse, last name must match the registered service member’s last name to receive the Military Discount. To receive the Military Discount for online purchases, you must sign in to your Brady’s Botanicals account.
